Carolina
Roses Ron, a third-generation
rose grower, was raised in Illinois, educated at the University
of Illinois, and learned the rose business from his father and grandfather.
He came to the North Carolina mountains in 1979 to fulfill his dream
of growing the best roses possible in his own business.
Today, Carolina Roses grows 23 different varieties of roses. They
are unique in that they offer florist services direct to the public
from their greenhouse near Hendersonville, NC.
Heartland
Growers is a modern commercial greenhouse located in Westfield,
Indiana. The facility encompasses 18 acres, or approximately 850,000
square feet of gutter-connected greenhouses.
Heartland Growers ships within a 200-mile radius of the Indianapolis
metro area. They also operate a large wholesale area with a wide
and diverse assortment of blooming, foliage, annuals, and mixed
planter items for the wholesale florist and landscaper. Wholesale
customers may visit the greenhouse and buy direct.
Metrolina Greenhouses
is one of the largest single-location greenhouses in the United
States and is top-10 in total greenhouse space with 80 acres for
the spring 2001 season.
Metrolina Greenhouses specializes in spring bedding plants, fall
mums, pansies, and poinsettias. They are located north of Charlotte
North Carolina between the junction of interstates 77 and 85.
Van Wingerden International
Aart and Cornelia Van Wingerden emigrated from Holland to the United
States in 1948 with three children, few possessions, and the belief
that there were great opportunities in this country.
In 1973, the Van Wingerden family moved to Fletcher, NC and began
developing an operation that now covers more than 35 acres. VWI
grows over 150 varieties of plants, including bedding plants, African
violets, mums, poinsettias, spring bulb crops, perennials, and many
other flowering indoor plants.
